Exfoliation

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is the natural process by which our outer layer of skin, the epidermis, sheds itself of old, dry and dead cells. Because of the increased loss of moisture in our bodies as we age, and for other, preventable reasons (please see What Causes Wrinkles for more information).

Technically, the cells of the epidermis, called keratinocytes, move from the bottom layer of the epidermis to the top layer, building up a large amount of keratin and developing a tough outer shell. Once these cells reach the top layer, they flake off.

It is also important to help that process along sometimes, due to a variety of factors. Skin brushing, also called dry body brushing, is a great way to stimulate blood and lymph flow to the epidermis, encouraging new cell growth.

See "How Skin Brushing Helps With Cellulite" for more information on body brushing.

Exfoliating the face should be done about 3 times a week, never more often than every other day.

For the face, a scouring pad is not recommended!

A more gentle and natural way would be to use L'Bri's Exfoliating Face and Body Scrub. Two other excellent products are the Facial Masque and Rejuvenating Enzyme Facial Peel.

L'Bri Pure n' Natural products are a natural skin care product line that will give you the results you want: smoother, clearer, fresher looking and feeling skin that is actually healthier.
