The Swine Flu Scare

The Swine Flu Scare

This is the second time in recent years (1976 being the first) that the Swine Flu has grabbed the headlines with dire warnings and more talk about the need to be vaccinated.

In point of fact, more people died in 1976 from the vaccine that was supposed to protect them from the flu than from the flu itself. And yet here we go again; more scare tactics and panic.

American health officials declared a public health emergency as cases of swine flu were confirmed in the U.S. Health officials across the world feared this could be the leading edge of a global pandemic emerging from Mexico, where seven people were confirmed dead as a result of the new virus. On Wednesday April 29th, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised its pandemic alert level to five on its six-level threat scale, which means they've determined that the virus is capable of human-to-human transmission.

As usual, the people most targeted for the vaccines are the elderly and the very young.

People like to point out that the Spanish Flu of 1918 killed about 20 million people worldwide, as if that were a reasonable comparison. I'd like to point out that there was no vaccine for it then and it stopped all by itself. Just like polio in this country and in England died out BEFORE Jonas Salk's miracle vaccination.

Am I minimizing death or disease? Not at all. But we grow up thinking and believing what the established "authorities" tell us is true, never thinking for ourselves. Always a mistake. Remember the blood-letting George Washington - and countless others - died from at the hands of trusted and respected physicians?

So how do you protect yourself from getting the Swine Flu? Is it even possible? Oh, yes indeed.

The very best protection you can have, bar none, is a healthy immune system.

Too simple? Maybe, but it is still true. Most of us know that at any given moment, our bodies are full of bacteria and germs, including cancer cells.

But think about it - does everyone get every disease, including cancer? Yes, more and more people are getting cancer these days, but what do you think is causing the dramatic rise in statistics?

Furthermore, do germs cause disease? Well, that's an obvious question, isn't it? Or is it??

Stay tuned for the answers .....
